Migration Skill Corridor Report: India\u2013Germany<\/strong><\/p>

This report examines the India\u2013Germany Migration Skill Corridor, one of the most institutionalised bilateral labour-migration partnerships between India and a European destination country. Anchored in the 2022 Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement, it has expanded from nursing and high-skilled migration into vocational and technical occupations, student mobility and vocational training.<\/p>

The authors describe the corridor as a \u201clighthouse\u201d model: comparatively strong in ethical standards and institutional cooperation, but still limited in scale, inclusivity and skills-development impact. Public programmes such as Triple Win set benchmarks for fair recruitment, while private recruiters provide much of the speed and volume, creating uneven standards, costs and oversight.<\/p>

German-language acquisition remains the main bottleneck, alongside qualification recognition, skills matching and visa infrastructure. Nursing is the most established segment, while vocational and technical occupations face greater difficulties because of differences between Indian training systems and German qualification requirements.<\/p>

Based on 36 interviews with policy-makers, recruitment actors, employers, training providers, civil-society organisations and other stakeholders, the report calls for stronger regulation of private recruitment, better information and data cooperation, more affordable migration preparation, and greater attention to India\u2019s own skills-development interests.\u00a0<\/p>
