A Compendium of Fourteen Migration Skill Corridors
This working paper brings together concise profiles of 14 Migration Skill Corridors examined by the Link4Skills research consortium, offering a comparative overview of skilled migration between countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.
Based on more than 200 qualitative interviews and extensive research conducted in countries of origin and destination, the compendium examines how migration corridors develop, how they are governed and what shapes their effectiveness. It covers established and emerging pathways, exploring differences in recruitment practices, institutional cooperation, skills development, qualification recognition and migrant protection.
A comprehensive synthesis table highlights key characteristics and dynamics across all 14 corridors, while individual summaries identify major trends, challenges and examples of good practice.
The publication provides an accessible reference for policymakers, researchers and practitioners seeking to understand the diverse mechanisms shaping international skilled mobility and the conditions for making migration more effective, equitable and mutually beneficial.
